About Me
Leisel Martig

Welcome to my Weebly site! My name is Leisel Martig. I am a fourth grader teacher, daughter, oldest sister of three, puppy mom, fiance, fitness coach, and lover of life. I grew up in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I attended a small, liberal arts college for my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Special Education before moving to Southwest Virginia to pursue my teaching career. This school year marks my third year in the classroom!
Professionally, I am pursuing my graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction to one day advance in my career. While I love the classroom, it is not somewhere I see myself spending my entire career. I would love to mentor others- perhaps at the college level by one day pursuing my PhD and teaching college level courses. In five years, I see myself in the classroom or potentially taking on an administrative role in the schools in Curriculum and Instruction.
The most important things in my life are family, friends, enjoying the little joys life has to offer, shopping, coffee, and inspiring others....

Using Technology In My Teaching:
Utilizing technology in my classroom to it's fullest potential is something that, as a current educator, I am continually trying to improve.
Currently, I use technology daily in my classroom. I find that bringing technology "in" maximizes student engagement, thus ensuring that students are reaching their potential to learn new material and explore learning through a different "scope". I use a variety of resources such as SMARTboard technology, allowing for an interactive experience, electronic devices such as Kindles for reading, iPods for use of applications such as QR code readers, document cameras and so on. I also implement an online management tool, Class Dojo, in which student behavior is tracked daily and parents and students can track progress and behaviors live throughout the day.
My hope is to further my professional development to always strive to learn what "cool" new things are out there to always deliver the most effective instruction possible for my students.
